From the comedians of Ancient Greece who changed public opinion through political satire, to Charlie Chaplin's gripping critique of fascism in The Great Dictator and Alec Baldwin's damning impersonations of Donald Trump on Saturday Night Live, comedy has played a critical role in shaping political narratives and informing culture and society. In this salon we will discuss the power and politics of comedy. We will question how comedy can be used as a force for good in the world as well as the potential problems associated with satire. 

Joining us is one of England's greatest comedians, Alexis Dubus, known for his French alter ego Marcel Lucont. He will discuss his views on the topic and, as "France's finest resident flâneur, raconteur and bon-viveur" will offer his comments on salon culture!
