Dear Friends of the Salon,
For the June salon we will discuss the philosophy of art and subjectivity with Dr. Peter de Bolla, Professor of Cultural History and Aesthetics in the English Department at the University of Cambridge.
Artworks ask of us some difficult things: What kind of attention is required in order to “get” the work as, precisely, a work of art? How does this form of attention alter how we see not only the work but also the world and ourselves?
We will debate vigorously, enjoy conversation on the balcony if the weather is nice, listen to opera, eat fresh fruit and drink homemade sangria!
