Is religion in a state of decline?  Can religion evolve with changing social norms? Is ritual necessary to the human experience? What are compelling alternative systems of meaning and spirituality? These are a general questions we will consider in this salon.

Our speaker Alexander Görlach, public intellectual, founder of The European, and Harvard visiting scholar will, speak on the following aspect of this topic: “Modernity is said to have one key feature: the decline of religion. It is not a mere atheism but a progress paradigm that has not become reality. How do we structure secularism in a world where religion as phenomenon is still present?
